Today is Jimmy Carter's 85th birthday. In honor of my favorite past president, I thought I would share some reasons why he has a special place in my heart. So, in no particular order, here's why I think Jimmy is great:
1) He was president the year I was born
2) That same year he installed solar panels on the roof of the White House. FYI- Reagan removed them in 1986.
3) He's remained civic-minded after leaving the presidency. (Ex: promoting and working with Habitat for Humanity, being a mediator in international conflicts from North Korea to Bosnia to Sudan...)
4) He worked to promote peace in the Middle East. If he were in a pageant, I would believe him if he answered "world peace" to the question "If you had one wish...?"
5) His accent is endearing (folksy, but in a way that makes it seem like he's a grandpa telling you a story) and he wore great sweaters.
6) On the subject of folksy, he expanded the national park system which included protection of 103 million acres of Alaskan land. (That's almost 1/4 of Alaska...according to WikiAnswers!)
In celebration of his birthday month, I will once again rent "Jimmy Carter Man from Plains." I Netflixed it back in February and by mid-April returned it after only watching the first 20 minutes. I vow to watch the entire thing in less than 2 months (oh- currently I've had "Catch me if you Can" for 4 months!). I also think a trip to Georgia is in order for me and Jarett so that I can cross off another presidential library from my "things to see" list.
What do you like about Jimmy Carter? Or am I the only one enamored by him?

Well, I think he was better than people give him credit for... Giving back the Panama Canal was a classy move. Can we go there instead of Georgia?

Not the whole song, but I bet you could find the entire version if you researched.
Jimmy Carter says "Yes!"
Who doesn't love Carter? People who hate all that is good. I like your blog! And I want a g&t...but that's probably not wise considering "the condition" I'm in right now.
